Review 2021, Outlook for 2022
2021 was a year with ups and downs but also marked as a booming year for the blockchain industry. From the public listing of Coinbase to El Salvador as the first country worldwide to adopt Bitcoin as a currency, the integration of the digital world with the real world has thus been further realized in the crypto field this year.
In this year, SubDAO underwent key growth and transformation: SubDAO has completed the basic module of the products, realized the basic functions of DAO, and obtained 3 official Grants from Web3 Foundation. At the same time, SubDAO has carried out a great many market activities to facilitate the development of decentralized governance.
At the end of this year, it’s time to look back to review the past while having a brand new outlook to encourage all communities to move forward.
In 2021, SubDAO designed and developed the official websites on both mobile end and web pages with updated page structure and UI design.
Regarding Dapp, SubDAO has completed the design and development of the basic version, and optimized the development and integration of functions including permission management, transfer result display, user login information display, personnel management, etc., and completed the deployment optimization and upgrade.
In 2021, SubDAO has completed the design and development of the DAO authority system, including the setting, adjustment, transfer, and further optimized the process of DAO creation, DAO member permissions, which facilitate users to create DAO with only one signature. In addition, the creation and management of DAO templates have been optimized and upgraded, and the development and design of DAO Ventures are also underway.
SubDAO has upgraded the ERC 20 contract and started to design a cross-chain bridge scheme. Now an Etherum cross-chain bridge was built, and the Substrate service would be launched.
For Chrome Extension(DAO Wallet), SubDAO has launched on the Chrome Extension and completed the version upgrade including UI & UX updates, optimization of voting option, red packet, balance display, and transfer, etc. Besides, the DOT and KSM tokens are available for the red packet distribution, supporting switching between different currencies.
Developed on a Substrate framework based on SubDAO, PolkaSign is compatible with any Substrate-based chain, serving any type of organization via electronic protocols. It has now been officially submitted to the Web3 Foundation, which means that we will complete an earlier version of the product.
During the year, there is a great increase in the number of SubDAO Telegram community by 27,475 members.
In addition, 50 ambassadors have been recruited in the Starfish Ambassadors Program, giving SubDAO strong support in such aspects as marketing, article writing, video production, and content translation, etc.
SubDAO Twitter has been operating for 12 months, with a total of 308 tweet posts, 10.74 million homepage visits, 29,700 mentions, and 5.63 million impressions, which enable SubDAO to attract 69,100 followers eventually.
On March 25th, SubDAO held its first large-scale community airdrop event, receiving 29,000 retweets, and nearly 2,000 users completed tasks and received airdrop rewards.
On June 26th, SubDAO launched the first Meme Contest around the community, with more than 300 participators contributing their wisdom and creativity to the event.
On July 5th, SubDAO held a special event to celebrate the reach of 50,000 Twitter followers, and now the total number of followers already amounts to 691,000.
SubDAO series of white paper activities in the community not only let the community know more about SubDAO and its concept but also let more cryptocurrency enthusiasts feel the technical charm of SubDAO; SubDAO also regularly held AMA and cumulatively carried out more than 10 Q&A events online in the community, which closely connects community users.
In 2021, SubDAO initiated and jointly established the Polkadot DAO Alliance(PDA) with dozens of projects on Polkadot ecology. First founding members include Plasm, Phala, Stafi, Crust, Litentry, Bifrost, Patract, Darwinia, Zenlink, DeepDAO, and SubDAO. PDA aims to promote the construction of decentralization of the Polkadot ecology, with the ultimate goal of “Achieving Real Decentralization in Web 3.0”. So far, the number of PDA members has expanded to 17 projects in Polkadot ecology. These projects cover the fields including DAO, smart contracts, DeFi, privacy, storage, etc.
During this year, SubDAO has generated 40 English articles through Medium, with more than 100,000 views throughout the year. With the support of the powerful content, SubDAO Medium naturally increased by 39,904 followers.
In 2021, SubDAO organized and participated in more than 20 online AMA, and received online interviews from the Polka Labs and Cointelegraph.
Financing and Cooperation
SubDAO has completed millions of dollars in funding from dozens of institutions such as Huobi Ventures, OKEx Blockdream Fund, and Messari founder Ryan Selkis.
In 2021, SubDAO also established strategic cooperation with many related projects, wallets, trading platforms, etc.
In 2021, SubDAO focused on technology development, product performance optimization, which completed the basic construction of the SubDAO network. In 2022, we will expand the ecology and present a more mature product system by continuing to optimize the products, improve more application experience and apply more advanced technology in the network. The roadmap for next year is as follows:

The founding team of SubDAO is composed of the former Technical Team leader of the IBM Group and many early well-known developers from Polkadot.
